`The` Desert Rose - my sweet intoxication
How did the lyrics go?.. "each of her veils, a secret promise".. Literally, around every corner of this exquisite beauty awaits to be discovered a fascinating new experience.
Sting`s gotta see this one. Pity if he wasn`t invited. So many other stars were. From Naomi Campbell`s flawless skin and long legs to Captain Jack Sparrow's love for roses (and 'Lilies' of course) this wonder of a structure has earned the right to yawn and say, I've seen them all. I think her human form would be Marilyn Monroe. The self assured way this structure stands overlooking the Doha skyline reminds me of Ms Monroe's confident poses. Btw, I wonder how celebrities feel when admiring something more awe-provoking than themselves.
Harmonizing nature and physics at its best, the D.R. Is more than just a `museum` in the traditional sense. I don`t think I am `travelled enough` to remark as to whether there is another structure that matches such uniqueness but I can say for sure that a 3 day trip to Qatar is in the pipeline for any art/culture enthusiast who wishes to engage her (why always his anyway?) senses in a delightful journey.
I can also say for sure that this monument is love for art, culture, progression, evolution and is a benchmark for the love of humanity.
What`s found in the desert, is exquisite and rare? No, not oases (if that`s the plural for the word). I`d say it`s the desert rose. Fragile and beautiful, this beauty served as the template for the NMoQ.
As if the exterior isn`t mesmerizing enough, enter and thou shall be greeted with one of the most interactive experiences of your lifetime (almost at par with marriage 😂 - no offense, Mr. O 😘😘kucukturuc :)
My 3 year old daughter adores the place - also the fact that I give in to her wishes at the children`s gift store - which also deserves to be called `the ocean of temptation for adults and kids alike`.
This place is designed to make you appreciate beauty (the museum, not the giftstore, the museum).
Unlike the contemporary and sorry but `ordinary` museums we are used to seeing, this one is full of life and is exciting beyond imagination.
I wonder how many museums (except for those designed specifically for children of course) get kids so involved and make learning so much fun.
All nurseries should be like this (says I, after 2 years of paranoid nursery hunting for my bebe. I am, I think, by now experienced enough to set up a full fledged awesomely fun nursery).
Frankly, this museum is so much more interesting and fun than so many nurseries that I am not suprised my 3 year old wants to go here rather than there.
Imagine the massive interior walls covered in huge screens engulfing you visually, sensually and making you feel like you are `there` - wherever they are showcasing - the desert, underwater, etc. Every nook and cranny (literally) offering kids interactive play and learn opportunities that make you wish you could play too - not that anyone would scorn you if you did - I tried, so I`d know. I for one have no shame constructing giant magnetic vases. Can someone assign me a permanent room here please?
And no trip to the museum is complete without stopping at the Desert Rose Cafe. Rose Latte anyone?
Wonderfully articulated. Needs to be read by more people...
